Half a Century of Vincent: The Van Gogh Museum at 50

In 2023, Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum marked 50 years since it opened in 1973. Home to the world's largest collection of the artist's work, it welcomes millions of visitors a year drawn to the troubled genius of Vincent.

Its anniversary year included a landmark exhibition on the final, astonishingly productive months Van Gogh spent in Auvers-sur-Oise before his death — paintings made in a fever of creativity.

From 'Sunflowers' to 'The Bedroom', the museum tells the story of an artist who sold almost nothing in his lifetime and became, in death, perhaps the most loved painter in the world.
